Hello, thank you for shopping with us. Jacquara, originally from Florida now residing in Maryland as an HR Guru by day and candle maker by night. Jacquara's connection and love for luxury candles developed into a business is how the Waxed & Wicked candles came to be. 

What helps you work?

Having peace helps me work. This translates to being well nourished in mind, body, and spirit. I find myself often working in silence with the TV off and my personal phone on do not disturb.

What's the most memorable place you have been to and why?

Coming home to Florida as home is where is the heart is. It's where I've created the most memories with my family and friends.

If you were to give a message to the world what would it be?

You will hear multiple "No's" during your journey of life, but never give up, never settle for less, and create your own lane. Always believe that you are enough, you are the sauce!

What's the best advice you have ever received?

You have to use what you got to get what you want (just kidding). The best advice I've received is that I was not born to just pay bills and die. Create my own lane, create multiple streams of income, and generate generational wealth.

Which sense do you use the most?

I use my sense of hearing the most. I like for people to feel heard, cared about, and understood. Listening first allows me to pay attention and understand the person and their experience. But your girl does like to use her sense of taste just as much.

How would your best friend describe you?

My best friend would describe me as creative, goofy, reserved, reliable, stubborn, determined, a dash of mean, intuitive, proving my affection through gift-giving, and someone who doesn't allow everyone to enter their world and heart easily.

What is your why?

My family is my why.

Why did you start a candle business?

For someone who has suffered from anxiety and still struggles with, I found that lighting candles has helped relaxed my mind and calmed my spirit. My love for candles and the affect they have on me initiated the conversation to start the business. I hope to reach those who have the same love and appreciation for candles as I do.
